2023 UDCA Thanksgiving Celebration

The Upper Dublin Chinese Association (UDCA) held its annual Thanksgiving celebration on November 25, 2023. After intensive preparations by the organizing committee, the gathering kicked off at 5 pm in the auditorium at Maple Glen Elementary School. The guests were entertained by many different performances, games, and a wide-spread table of food of both Chinese and American cultures. The event ended around 9 pm, with everyone feeling happy and full.

There were more than 150 people who attended this event. The whole room was filled with joy. Before the official performance, Dr. Ling Liang, the president of UDCA, gave a speech for the event and reaffirmed the purpose of the association. Afterwards, the guests were presented with a table of American foods like roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, as well as Chinese food like baozi, tea, roasted vegetables and chicken. After the guests enjoyed their meals, the performance by the volunteers had officially begun. There were dances, songs, poetry chorus, and saxophone. All of the performers were full of talent and charisma.

After the performance, the committee also interspersed with the award ceremony. Five local high school students, Albert Zeng, Isabella Xie, Edward Zhao, Alan Jiang and Cathy Liu won the UDCA 2022 Platinum Award; Two students, Albert Zheng and Ryan Gu, won the bronze presidential volunteer service award from the UDCA in recognition of their contributions to the community in the past year. In addition, the organizing committee also arranged children's favorite activities such as Kahoot and exciting lucky draws. There was a new addition to the children's game this Thanksgiving– a balloon volleyball tournament. The kids were filled with energy. The games were intense, and the children were having a great time and the final freegroup dance added much more laughter to the party. This event was very successful as it lasted until 9 pm. The room was filled with chatter, gameplay, celebration, and everyone was very grateful for the experience UDCA offered.

This gathering received strong support from the nearby Chinese communities. UDCA would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to our members and friends.
